Curiosity: I 100% believe you when you say it's a trap, but what's the nature of it? Is insisting in warnings a sign that they'll be overbearing about it? Or that their interpretation will be overly broad?

maybe 'trap' isn't precisely the right word, but... okay so the full story that didn't fit in one neat sentence is: you can do *ist and *phobic content if you explicitly acknowledge that you don't support those things. either the characters must know it's bad, or you must put it in your notes to make absolutely sure that no one gets the 'wrong message' about it—and so that the rest of the event goers and mods can make sure that they're not harboring any nasty racists or ableists or anything like that in their midst.

the quagmire there isn't in the rule itself—or even really in the person who made the rule—but in that the people who are participating, for better or for worse, agreed with the rule.

(it looks like a nice rule, but. moving goal posts. maybe not quite moving goal posts held by monkeys on speed, but it's definitely modded by someone who is willing to pay their dues to the Gods of Woke™, whether or not they'll punish the mortals found wanting.)

(maybe i'm being unkind, but here's what made me pull out, for reference. i am fully confident that they have the best intentions. i am much less confident in their grasp of what standards are reasonable to expect of us mere mortals. :'D)

Oh my God the top comment is a person asking "can my mentally ill character refer to themselves as crazy" and the response was NOVEL LENGTH and included advice on how to work a second character in to moralize at the first about the use of the word, just in case, plus a content warning at the top for "negating self talk". Like Jesus that's basically "you can do it but say ten rounds of the rosary and go to confession first". Jesus christ. Definitely a trap!!

...if it makes you feel any better, the first comment is a basic 'what are the guidelines' question, the second is "can you change fatphobic into weight-shaming, please?" and this is the third. :'D they are very serious about the rosaries and confessionals.
