  • [VivifxAMV] Maybe -- inu x boku ss, call me maybe by carly rae jepsen (cover by paradise fears) -- it brings my Feels for this anime back in a tidal rush ever damn time oh my g o d. it highlights both the sweetness and ridiculousness of the main relationship, so well. so so so well. and it's so beautifully executed.
  • Inaba's B-Team -- cuticle detective inaba, b-team by marianas trench -- doesn't really touch on the theme of the song at all, but fully showcases the bounce and energy in the anime, which is one of my favorites. plus: hella catchy song.
  • AMV ~ Little Horns ᴬᴵᴺᴵᴼ -- darling in the franxx & neon genesis evangelion, horns by bryce fox (arc north remix), WARNING FOR SLIGHT NUDITY AND MECHA-TYPICAL VIOLENCE -- it just... fucking flows man. they did the 60fps super smoothing too and the effect is stunning. it's eerie and deep as mindfuck monsters and violent hopelessness can get.
  • 「MEP」JUICY WIGGLE | Osomatsu-san -- osomatsu-san, juicy wiggle by redfoo -- god it was like this song was MADE for this anime, and every editor here knocked it out of the park. fx: on POINT. flow: fucking FANTASTIC. cohesiveness: absolutely gorgeous.
  • this is taking longer than i wanted it to lol so i'll leave it for now. man the gems scattered in my likes playlist are intense.

(i'm laughing a little at it being called 'sexually charged' by the articles when mostly it makes me think of nuzzling and cuddling even if it IS talking about sex.

especially when compared to like... take me on the floor by the veronicas, which is one of the most thirst-ridden songs on my playlist, but removes pronouns from most of the song and then mentions both girls and boys in the bridge. because, you know. it's not super in your face about girls wanting to kiss girls so OBVIOUSLY it's not as sexy or bad, right??)

ETA: disclaimer: i realize that a lot of this has to do with timing and that no one directly compared the two except me lol. take me on the floor was released ~10 years ago, and it set my standards for 'i'm thirsty as fuck man, i'm thirsty as SHIT.' seeing a chill pop song called 'sexually charged' was just... A Thing. listen to any ariana grande or nicki minaj lately? lmao.

God though, this makes me think of when Janelle Monae released Yoga and there was all kinds of ~discourse~ about how she'd totally sold out and was terrible for letting people sexualize her. Because women never like looking or feeling sexy. Also, that music video is definitely filled with sexy women, but the way people talked about it, you'd think the video was basically porn. :I

I'm really glad I wasn't really on tumblr for the release of Dirty Computer. Although I suppose the sexuality in Pynk is pretty fucking pastel, so maybe that let it get a pass.
