Hear me out: Akirann Miraculous Ladybug AU

Joker and Panther are a gentleman thief and cat burglar duo who specialize in gem thievery, bank heists, and bringing the crimes of the corrupt government to light. Given the nature of their job, they're pretty darn dedicated to keeping their identities secret, even from each other.

Meanwhile, Akira and Ann are normal high school students. Akira works in a cafe to support himself and his younger brother, Morgana, and somehow ended up best friends with the local troublemaker, Ryuji. Ann models and hangs out with her best friend, Shiho, but otherwise keeps to herself.

That said, Akira and Ann have an odd friendship thing going on. It mostly consists of Akira offering Ann a kind and understanding ear when she's at her lowest, and Ann avoiding him the rest of the time while she tries and desperately fails to not fantasize about making his glasses fog up in some forgotten corner of the library. No one must ever know.

(Unfortunately for her, Joker has been trying and failing to catch the eye of a cheerful cutie in a skintight red catsuit. It'd probably work out better for him if he could ask her out to somewhere a little more normal than the basement of the Diet Building, but that's life. Maybe when this show's over... Well. He can hope, can't he?)
